This is the standard asbestos survey that should be carried out for the continued management of asbestos in premises.
The purpose of the asbestos survey is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of suspect ACMs in the building and assess their condition. Although sampling is the most common approach that has been used for surveys, an asbestos survey can also involve presuming the presence of asbestos.
This type of survey can be used for the duty holder or contractor to undertake general, non intrusive maintenance works.
This type of asbestos survey is used to ascertain the location and extent of all ACMs in the planned work area (or whole building in the case of demolition) so that they can be removed prior to works commencing. This type of survey will tend to utilise more intrusive and destructive techniques in order to locate any ACMs within the fabric of the building.
Due to the intrusive nature of this type of asbestos survey, it’s recommended that the building/work area be unoccupied during the course of the survey.
As per the Control of Asbestos Regulations, a duty holder must ensure that a suitably trained person annually reinspect the known ACMs in the building and record any changes in the condition, risk etc. Here at Hampshire Asbestos Solutions, we can undertake your asbsestos reinspections for you, removing the burden from you whilst ensuring you still remain compliant and the risk be managed.
